About Us

Our Team

Dr Peter Joseph  MB BS (1984) DRCOG MRCGP – Partner

I graduated from UCL and commenced working at The Abbotsbury Practice in 1989. I have enjoyed seeing the practice become streamlined with new technology over the past twenty-odd years. whilst continuing to offer the personal touch to patients. It has given me great pleasure to train future GPs (both in hospital and in the practice) and to appraise other GPs in the area.

My special interests include Diabetes and Minor Surgery. I have three children and enjoy playing tennis when time permits.

Dr Sheila Saville  MB BS (1966) – Partner

I qualified in Newcastle and lived and worked in the North-East until I moved South with my family. I joined the practice in 1982 and have joined the many Northerners living in the South-East and have become a ‘Southern-Softie’!

All aspects of General Practice interest me and I enjoy being a member of this great team. I am very involved in the areas of child development and women’s health issues.

In my spare time, I see a lot of my family, in particular my two grandsons.

When not needed for baby-sitting duty, I enjoy music concerts and theatre.

Dr Shalin Bhattessa  MB ChB (2004) BSc MRCGP DRCOG DGM DPDerm – Partner

I am very proud to be back at the practice having been a trainee here in 2008/9. I qualified from Manchester medical school after completing a BSc at The University of St Andrews. After rotating through various clinical posts in London, I went on to complete GP training in Hillingdon.

My clinical interests include Mens Health, Preventative Medicine and Dermatology (skin diseases) including minor surgery.

In my spare time, I enjoy photography, trying to play golf and spending time with family most of which is taken up with our two children.

Dr Shireen Siddiqui  MB ChB (2008) MRCGP DFSRH DRCOG

Shireen finalI recently joined the practice in October after completing my GP training in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. I qualified from the University of Sheffield Medical School in 2008. My clinical interests include Women’s Health, Family Planning and ENT. I also fit contraceptive implants.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy running, badminton and watching tennis. I enjoy travelling with my husband and am currently learning French and Arabic to help with this!

Dr Siddiqui is presently on maternity leave and her clinics are being covered by Dr Davinia Natt.

The practice is an approved training practice and is continuously involved in training future GP’s. Registrars are fully qualified Doctors who usually spend a year with us. Sometimes consultations are video recorded for teaching purposes. This will only be done with the patients consent.

Our current registrars are:

Dr Hannah De Silva and Dr Manraj Kooner.

We also have Dr Manpreet Bains doing some sessions for us each week.

Practice Nurse –  Jo Burch

I have been at the practice for over twenty years, over this time my role has gradually expanded and I have completed both the Family Planning Certificate and also the Diploma in Managing Asthma.

I started my nursing career in 1976 initially working in hospital Medical wards. I then went on to complete Midwifery training and worked both in the NHS and private sectors as a midwife.

I initially worked as a District Nurse in Harrow and eventually became both a nurse mentor and trainer.

In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with my family.

Jean Elliott – Health Care Assistant (HCA)

I passed my NVQ in Care Level 2 in June 2005 and NVQ level 3 in Clinical Healthcare Skills in July 2007. I have worked as a HCA in General Practice since 2004, joining the Abbotsbury Practice in January 2011.

I trained as a smoking cessation adviser in 2006 and am always pleased to support patients who wish to stop smoking.

When time allows I enjoy being out in the fresh air, carrying out conservation tasks in local nature reserves, bird watching and walking.

Practice Manager

Abidah Haq

photoI joined this practice in 2009 and it is by far the best place in which I have worked! This is due to the lovely, supportive, & hard working team we have here.

My main role is to support and manage the staff and systems in order to provide the highest level of service to our patients.

In my spare time, I love reading, keeping fit and enjoying days out with my family.
